0:29.9	seed garlic. So first of all, thank you for that, Jeremy, and welcome to the show.
0:34.0	Hey Kevin, thanks for having us on your show. We're really excited to be here.
0:39.6	This is our first podcast that we've recorded, so this is going to be awesome.
0:45.0	Yeah, yeah, no I'm excited. I think we're talking today about garlic seed selection
0:49.6	and we're almost just walking through a timeline this week on how to grow and plant garlic and
0:55.3	you know it seems like in the world of Alleums the type that you choose to put in the
1:02.3	ground is going to determine almost all of the
1:04.7	success that comes thereafter right? Yeah that's right Kevin you make a great point
1:09.7	I think the number one topic that's going to make you have a nice garlic crop is going to be your seed selection.
1:20.0	So let's get into it. There's a couple of different types of garlic.
1:27.0	We have our soft neck varieties and we have our hard neck varieties.
1:32.0	The hardneck varieties are going to be your
1:36.4	bolting strains so they will bolt and produce a flower stock and your softneck varieties are your non-bolting types.
1:50.0	Right and I know for me and correct me if I'm wrong here down here in San Diego zone 10b
1:55.4	the recommendation at least is to only go with a soft neck variety.
2:01.4	That's that is the recommendation.
2:04.0	When you're choosing your garlic seed, definitely one thing to be to keep in mind is your climate.
