Did Weiss have authority to actually bring charges?

He's saying he did.

He had the ability to do whatever he wanted to do.

Whistleblowers are saying, no, you didn't. And we think we have the proof to show that you actually didn't.

Or could it be that he did have the power when he chose not to?

It's confusing.

Break it down for us.

Look, the past 10 days, things have gotten consistently worse for Merrick Garland.

He is in the greatest legal jeopardy he has been since the day

he took the oath to be attorney general. We now have two different IRS whistleblowers who have

flat out accused him of lying under oath and of obstruction of justice. Not hardcore Republicans,

either. It should be made clear. They are career IRS employees with no

reason to lie that anyone knows. If what they're saying is true, Merrick Garland is guilty of serious

felonies. If what they're saying is true, Merrick Garland should be impeached. If what they're saying is

true, a special counsel should be appointed

in the Department of Justice to consider charging Merrick Garland with lying under oath and obstruction
