Welcome back everyone to the Epic Gardening Podcast. We are talking about

garden covers this week with none other than Nicky Jabour. She is an award-winning

author. She has a ton of books out. The most recent one is growing

under cover, which is of course what we're talking about. But she also has a radio show. She's

very well known for growing in quite a cold climate you said zone five right

Nicky yeah zone five zone five up in Halifax Nova Scotia nope yeah

Halifax Nova Scotia yeah I mean we're almost at the province is almost an island. We're just joined by a small dambridge to the rest of Canada.

So it's, you know, the ocean does offer some, it's a little bit temperate for us, so it doesn't, we don't get the deep snow that mainwood not going what usually sometimes we get a lot of snow

and ice yeah yeah and I mean I got I got a little bit of frozen water on my roof and I like freaked out. I think it's mostly

because I put a roof on that stays really really cold at the new house and it

wouldn't it wasn't even freezing temperatures just some weird flu happened that's really as

close as I get to inclement weather but we're not talking about inclement

weather we're talking about animals specifically some of the larger ones and

how garden covers can prevent because ny I get a lot of questions about

deer rabbits squirrels chipmunks those types of pests which I really besides

maybe a squirrel don't really battle much and I'm curious how you use different types of

covers to prevent these different types of mammals coming through.

You know it's I'm so jealous you don't deal with deer because I think most of us in

North America deal with deer I I think most of us in North America

deal with deer I mean I live deep in deer country usually I see the family of four

which is the past year to the family that's of deer that have been wandering through

my garden every day.
