To the world around him, Richard Huckle was pretty ordinary.

A 19-year-old British student from Kent, taking a gap year from school,

Richard spent that year on an evil rampage of child sexual abuse, using his position of authority as a Christian teacher over vulnerable kids. Abuse that stretched into a decade. Today, we're

talking about the gap year pedophile.

Richard Huckle was born in 1986 to a middle-class family in Ashford Kent.

He went to the Harvey Grammar School.

People there described him as a bit of a loner, but nothing out of the ordinary.

When he was 16 years old, he took a trip to a school in Namibia, a country in South Africa. The trip was a month long, and Richard loved it. After Harvey

Grammar School, Richard went to South Kent College. He also went to Ashford Baptist Church,

where a churchgoers say he was pretty quiet and kept to himself. He was also a

member at a church in London, whose pastor said Richard rarely attended, but when he did,

it was to see the kids. From 2005 to 2006, Richard Huckle spent a gap year in Malaysia. He helped

out local churches and local communities. In 2010, he moved there
