Hollywood writers are calling a strike that means the production of some shows like

Late Night Talk shows could go dark this week.

The writer's Guild of America tweeted yesterday that the Board of Directors have voted unanimously

to call a strike which is effective as of today.

The Guild represents writers of film, TV and streaming media and the Alliance represents

the studios.

The strike comes as writers say they are not getting paid nearly enough amid the booming

streaming era.

At least six people are dead and 30 injured after a dust storm pile up in South Central

Illinois, crews remain at the site near Springfield on Interstate 55, a dust storm hit the

area dramatically bringing down visibility, causing a chain reaction crash.

Police say 40 to 60 vehicles were involved in crashes Monday afternoon and several were

actually engulfed in flames.

Officials say it occurred when heavy winds blew dirt from farm fields across the highway.

And finally, the U.S. could default on its debt as early as June 1st if Congress fails

to raise or suspend the debt ceiling.

That's what Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told lawmakers yesterday.

She said it's imperative Congress act as soon as possible to increase the limit.

Democrats and Republicans are locked in a debate over how to address the debt ceiling and

the threat of default.
