At the DNC, I talk to many interesting people at an air all the tape.

I want to air an interview I did with New York Senator Kirsten-Jillerbrand.

For years, for longer than this show has been in existence.

Senator Kirsten-Jil-Labran

has introduced legislation to try to reform

how the military investigates crimes, serious crimes,

because it handles it in-house and often, very often, justice is not done.

It does not match the kind of justice that a civilian prosecutor would give to a person for the same crime.

And when with more and more women joining the military and sexual assaults becoming a problem

over the last decade, Jill Brand consistently sought to reform the way the military conducts its justice,

and she was consistently thwarted year after year.

She'd introduced a bill, and more and more people the majority of senators

agreed with her but because of the filibuster it didn't pass and then she even got

to the point where she had a filibuster-proof majority if only the bill could emerge from committee but

Senator Jake Reed who is the chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee was

against the bill would routinely block the bill.

Also, he was joined by James Inhofe, who is retiring of Oklahoma.

And this bill would be blocked by the Senior Democrat and the Ranking Republican on the Armed Services Committee.

Okay, then in the last military appropriations bill, the major bill, it got through. This was no longer being blocked. And now we have

reform already. We're seeing sexual assaults declining. I don't know that this is
