Hello everyone and welcome along to this week's edition of the Spanish football podcast.

I'm Phil Kit from my ladies. I'm joined as ever by Sidlow. Hello, Sydney.

Hello, Philip. How are you? I'm all right, mate. I'm all right. As most people listening will know,

it has been a terrible week in Spain. genuinely, one of the worst that I can remember in the

13 years that I've lived here. You've been here over two decades and I know it's been

about as bad as it's ever been for you living here as well. At the time of recording,

at least 217 people have died in the devastating flash floods that affected primarily the

region of Valencia last week. Now, Sid, you know, we do this podcast because the world is a

difficult and scary and terrifying place. And if we're talking

about Barcelona's high line or Diego Simeone fiddling with his formation or Mbapé fitting into the

Real Madrid attack, it makes people think about something else and it gives a distraction. And we try to

provide entertainment. That's why we do the podcast to

entertain people and to try and make people think about stuff that isn't necessarily that serious.

We have had the most serious of things happen this week with those floods and it feels very

difficult to do a podcast where we're talking about football. But there was football this week with those floods. And it feels very difficult to do a podcast where we're talking about

football. But there was football this week. We have had football. Match Day 12 was played almost in its

entirety. The only two matches that were postponed were via Real Rio and Valencia against

Real Madrid, the only two La Liga games which were taking place in the region of Valencia.

And so we've got, we've got eight matches here, Sid, that we can talk about, or seven,

because this is Monday night football. But it feels strange us talking about that. We will get to

some football discussion because that is the heart of this podcast and, you know, it but also i feel like we have to talk about at the start of the show

how difficult it is to try and talk about football and why the football was played sid because
