What's up everybody welcome to IGN Gamescoop. I'm your host Damon Hathil. We have very

0:15.0

special show for you this week. I am joined by Fran Maribela, so I'm Dan.

0:18.2

Parrish Nider, Brian Altano, we are here to celebrate an IGN anniversary.

0:23.6

Ooh, IGN's 18th today. I've been thinking about that all day.

0:27.6

Yeah, you pulled it off well. IGN's 18th launched in 1996 alongside five websites,

0:36.1

a family website, n64.com, PSX Power, Saturn World, nextgeneration.com and ultra-game players

0:42.0

online and it was to coincide with the launch of the Nintendo 64, so we share the same

0:47.0

birthday. Yeah, so the on this date n64.com was the only one that launched and then the other

0:52.6

websites followed like one by one. So before the end of the year we had, well I say,

0:56.8

1:07.8

might remember that were here a long time. So I think on this day Doug Perry got hired

1:12.2

and he ran n64.com at the time and then later on he brought on Matt Casamacine, he brought

1:17.3

me on as well and a bunch of people like Eric McCullier, I think Johnny Simpson bin

1:22.6

to now is over it, which was there. Chris Anderson ran the company back then, it was called

1:28.5

Imagine Media, which is, you know, changed its name to future of course. Sure.

1:31.9

Which is where the original IGN comes from, Imagine Games Network. Yeah, it's for back then.

1:35.9

And that name actually wasn't used until 97. So 96 was all n64.com, it was one of the

1:41.7

Imagine websites, you know. I've been here for almost six years and I still forget that

1:48.0

IGN means Imagine Games Network, just to me. That's not like...

1:50.9

It did mean, right? It did. To me IGN is like, so good people are saying this, what does

1:53.7

it stand for? I get asked all the time. People make up their own. Internet gaming news,
