of Game of Thrones, season eight. My name is Kirk Hamilton, and I'm joined by my co-host, Jason

Schreier, to talk about the Iron Throne, the sixth and final episode of the season and of the show.

I know before we get started, this conversation will discuss the events of every aired episode

of the show, including this one, as well as all of the events in the books. It will not discuss

any leaked spoilers, nor will it discuss the next time on preview, because this was the last

episode of the show, and neither of those things exist. Jason, this episode was the end of Game

of Thrones. Big Picture, what did you think? So, I thought that there were some

cool moments. I thought there was some really awful moments. And I think overall, it would have

hit so much harder if it all hadn't been so rushed. For example, DeNaris's reign as a mad queen

lasted for a whopping 15 minutes.

And if that had been an entire season, or even an entire episode, of set up and

politicking and figuring out what DeNaris was actually going to do beyond her Nazi imagery,

it would have hit so much harder and been so much more interesting when John

finally slayed her. But that said, just from a big picture perspective, if you just watch this

as an episode of TV, it was sheer spectacle, just incredibly well done, well produced.

The problem is if you think about it for longer than a couple of minutes, then it all starts to fall

apart. So big picture, this entire season was just a big whopping disappointment for me,

despite having some really cool moments. And it's actually made me even more excited for the

books, because now that we know kind of big picture, some of the broader strokes of where

things are headed.

For example, I'm sure that Brand will become king in George R. Martin's story as well.
