Summary

The Nats won their first series in June after topping the Padres 8-3 on Sunday afternoon in California. Mark (Live from Petco Park) & Tim marvel at MacKenzie Gore's outing where he struck out the first six batters he saw to set a franchise record. Gore pitched well, but had to exit after 5 IP due to a high pitch count (104). His final pitch of the game was Strike 3 on Juan Soto, which defined the day as Gore K'd Soto in all three at bats. (13:00) The bullpen recorded the final 12 outs, but it was not the smoothest. Joe La Sorsa (a LHP!) had the biggest out of all to end the Padre threat in the 6th after relieving a struggling Mason Thompson. Our Guy Paolo made his 2023 Big League debut in the 9th, but needed Hunter Harvey's help for the final out of the afternoon. (19:20) Derek Hill went 1 for 4 on Sunday while he fills in for an injured Victor Robles. Mark gives the latest on Robles' rehab that is now in West Palm. (25:10) On Monday night the College World Series will be settled between LSU and Florida in Omaha. A fascinating subplot is that Paul Skenes, the Tigers star pitcher, will be on 3 days rest just a few weeks before the MLB Draft. How will the potential Nats 1st Round Pick be handled with a National Title on the line? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
