Summary

The Nats were shutout by the Mets 5-0 to begin the season at 0-3 for the first time in over a decade. Mark & Al discuss the struggling offense which has only scored four games in this series so far.  (10:53) Another busy night for the bullpen as Joan Adon's outing fell apart in the top of the 5th when he allowed a Grand Slam to Pete Alonso. The hits then continued for the 'pen as Mason Thompson exited the game after just three pitches due a right biceps issue. (20:02) The bright spot so far this year for the Nationals has been their excellent defensive play, including by Victor Robles. We wrap-up with a preview of Sunday's finale against New York as Erick Fedde takes the mound, plus an update on Anibal Sanchez's sore neck. MadisonSports.com. I'm Al-Galdi, host of the Al-Galdi podcast. The Nationals are 0-3 for the first

1:02.1

time since 2009. Now, 0-3 isn't like that much of a disaster in a 162 game season, but

1:09.2

that's pretty remarkable. This is territory in which the Nats have not

1:12.1

been since 2009. 0 and 3, a 5-0 loss to the New York Mets at Nationals Park on Saturday night.

1:19.3

The Nats, starting pitcher for a third time in three games this season, doesn't even last for

1:23.7

five innings. Davy Martinez for a third time in three games this season has to use

1:28.3

five relievers and one of them may have suffered serious injury. And the Nats offense right now just

1:34.3

is not doing much a total of four runs in three games. You know, Mark, I was thinking about it.

1:40.0

The Nats offense came alive toward the end of the exhibition season, but I guess that didn't mean a whole lot,

1:46.2

given how the offenses looked so far.
