We on Tuesday night had an offensive performance by the Nats that was rather familiar.

A 4-1 loss at the National League Central leading St. Louis Cardinals in game two of a four-game

series. The loss ended the Nats three-game winning streak. And the loss featured the kind of

sleepy, you know, nothing happening offensive performance that we have grown accustomed to

with the Nats this season. You know, Mark, we had gotten a bit spoiled with how the Nats had been

hitting and how the Nats had been scoring. And, you know, maybe possibly we're waiting for the Nats to do something in this game on Tuesday night, but that's something never ended up happening. Yeah, I guess it's a good thing, Al, that we've actually come to expect this team to score runs because that has not been the case for the majority of the season. But over the last week, and particularly the previous three days, it absolutely had been the case. So yeah, it was actually

a little bit surprising that they just never got it going in this game. They had the one early run

and really didn't even threaten that much after that until the ninth went, of course, the boys

battled. They brought the time run to the plate before stranding those runs on base. You know, you hope this is just a one-off and not a sign of more of this to come, but I think we have to acknowledge that maybe what we had seen in the last three days was a little bit better than we should count on happening on a daily basis from this team at this point. Well, there are a few things in

this game that I think are worth getting into. And one of them is the return of our friend Nelson

Cruz. He was back on Tuesday night, returned from a three-game absence of having fouled a ball
