Back in the time when the Belagio Hotel was a much younger hotel in Las Vegas, there was a great

film called Oceans 11 that was a remake of another great, much older film. It had George Clooney

and Brad Pitt in it, among others. And if you haven't seen it, you might want to skip the next minute

because I don't want to ruin it. Even though it's an old movie, you should totally go watch it

because it's great. If you don't care or you already have watched it, well, then here we go.

I've stalled long enough. Ocean's 11 is about a casino heist. It's the Bellagio in Las Vegas,

Nevada, and this unlikely squad of people

with a variety of talents who are funny when they work together. They all come up with a plan

to take the place down and get the money out of the vault and get away and it's one last job.

We've got to do one last job. It was really fun. And at the end, they've got all the

money and they gather right out front of the casino at the big cool fountains that are there in

front of the Bellagio right there on Las Vegas Boulevard, one of my favorite things about Las Vegas.

And as they're out there, they're asking themselves and asking each other the obvious question, which is, what do you do now? We don't really have money problems anymore. It worked. This money sort of liberated us all from the situations we were in before. and now we've got this wide open road in front of us.

Which way do we want to go? What do we want to do? And it's fun to hear and break it down and

slowly walk away from the thing. And likewise, as we're getting to the end of Galatians,

I feel like we're getting a similar

question here, though with less casino robbing. The idea or the trajectory of Galatians, and indeed

the trajectory of pretty much the whole Bible, is from slavery to freedom, from you used to be in

this state of servitude and obligation, impossible obligation even,

but by the redeeming work of God, by the power of the spirit through the work of Christ on the

cross and in the resurrection, you ain't there anymore if you're in Christ.
