Hey, my friends, it's Matt. This is the 10-minute Bible Hour podcast, and theoretically, we're working on the book of Galatians. However, the book of Galatians is a really Bible-y book of the Bible that connects with a lot of other parts of the Bible, and on its own, it might be a little bit confusing. But the more we follow the breadcrumbs coming out of Galatians, other parts of the Bible, the more it makes sense, and the more I think we understand why Paul felt confident enough to take such a firm tone

as he takes in the Book of Galatians. So right now, the breadcrumbs have taken us back to the Old

Testament, hundreds of years before the Book of Galatians was written to the Book of Isaiah,

where in chapter 53,

there's this passage about this suffering servant that probably has a ton of language in it

that you might not remember was Isaiah 53, but you've heard the language, because it sure

sounds like it's talking about Jesus and specifically the crucifixion and even more specifically

what it all means for you for me for everybody and that's

the stuff that paul's really tapping into in galatians chapter three so i'm going to have my friend

geoffrey play some music and we're going to pick up right where we left off yesterday on a galatians

three rabbit trail back to isaiah 53 and the passage about the suffering servant. Here we go.

It goes on, Isaiah 53-8, by oppression and judgment, he was taken away, and who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living, for the transgression of my people.

He was stricken. He was assigned a grave with the wicked and with the rich in his death,

though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it was the Lord's will to

crush him and cause him to suffer.

And though the Lord makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days,

and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. After the suffering of his soul, he will see the

light of life and be satisfied by his knowledge, my righteous servant will justify many, and he will

bear their iniquities. Therefore, I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide

the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the

transgressors, for he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors, for he bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors.
