Hey, everybody. I'm Matt. This is the 10-minute Bible Hour podcast. And yesterday we were looking at this little part of Galatians chapter 3, where it's easy for me to imagine Paul taking a very dadly tone like my dad took with me and hopefully like I take properly with my kids to remind his spiritual children, the Galatian Christians, to remind them of how they got the awesome things in their life in the first place.

In this case, how they received the Holy Spirit in the first place.

And he's asking them, well, I would like to learn just one thing from you.

Did you receive the Holy Spirit by observing the law or by believing what you'd heard. That's Galatians 3, 2.

Surely everybody in the room was like, yeah, yeah, by belief, it wasn't by observing the law.

Paul knows that. They know that. But, you know, most of the time, dad in this situation will

still cite some examples to remind the kid that whatever the right answer is, it's not just a mantra that we repeat.

There are tangible examples in recent memory to support this. And today we're going to go and look at three of those tangible examples of confirmation that people who were becoming Christians in receiving the spirit were not getting that by strict adherence to the law.

They were getting it by believing

what they heard. That is belief in Christ. All right. Let Jeff play some music. And then we're

going to get after it.

There are examples. We've talked about a lot of them, but let's just quickly jog our memory on this,

starting with Peter, kind of the bad guy of the previous chapter of this book, who had that encounter with Cornelius.

God orchestrates this meetup between Cornelius, the Gentile and Peter, the Jewish follower of Jesus, and they get

together and they're both kind of looking at each other. Cornelis is like, I, God told me to call you.

And Peter's like, okay, God told me to come here. And then Peter's like, I guess God doesn't show

favoritism. And then he doesn't really have Cornelius do anything. He just says we were witnesses to everything

that Jesus did and that they killed him and that he was raised from the dead. And then he commanded

us to preach to the people, I guess, just kind of what I'm doing right now. Also, you should know

Cornelius, this is Acts chapter 10, that all the prophets

testify about him and that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his

name. That's it. That's what Peter says. And then in the next verse, Cornelius does nothing.
