So I had this quote from Richard Sips and I don't know from which book it came, but there it was on my desk where I put it, and I thought, okay, here's my podcast for today.

And here's the quote. God's people are gainers by all their losses, stronger by all their

weakness, and better for all their crosses. Now, notice, first of all, these truths are for God's people.

The unbeliever can't say they're gainers by all their losses. They are sadly losers for all their

losses. They're not stronger by their weakness, but rather overwhelmed by it. And they're not better

for hardship, but worse, because it's all for nothing.

So these truths are for those of us who put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

These are wonderful promises from the Lord.

But let's see if Sibbs can back these up with Scripture.

So I dug around a little and found plenty of scriptures, and I just took a few out to substantiate with scripture. So I dug around a little and found plenty of scriptures and I just took a few

out to substantiate what he's saying here. So how can we be gainers by our losses? Well, there's a few

different verses. Philippians, 3, 7 through 9, but what things were gained to me, these I have counted loss for Christ,

yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus,

my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish rubbish that I may gain Christ and be found in

him not having my own righteousness which is from the law but that which is through faith in

Christ the righteousness which is from God by faith. This passage has so much in it but I'm just

picking out a few things there. Notice what was gain

before he was a Christian, those are a loss for Christ. And there's so much to be gained in Christ,

but I'm going to talk about that in a minute. Let's look at a couple of other scriptures.

1 Timothy 6.6. Now, godliness with contentment is great gain.

And Psalm 90, verse 12, so teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
