The thunderstorm raged most of the night.

For almost everyone who lived in Discovery Mountain, well, they were acquainted with this kind of spring thunderstorm,

and they slept soundly. But the new arrivals to town, well, they hardly slept a wink.

In the middle of the night, Jamie Simon crawled down from her cozy loft bed and into bed with her mom.

Gatchett woke up, howled and whimpered a little, and then found Mr. Simon and curled up at the foot of his bed.

Jake Donovan was not as fortunate. All night he shivered in the damp corner

of a cave in the forest on the edge of town. But now, as the morning sun rose and the

metal larks sang their tune, Jake stumbled tiredly into Mr. Simon's store, Trekkers.

He needed to warm up and to refill his food supply.

And for the moment, these things seem more important than his mission to run away.

Tz, Jamie, come look at who just walked in the front door of my store.

The young man Gadget found napping in my yard yesterday.

I thought he might stick around for a while.

That happens in Discovery Mountain.

I can smell him from here. That guy really needs a shower.
