Summary

In this episode, we welcome Gabe Rench to the show. He is the Co-Founder of the Fight Laugh Feast Network and Co-Host of the show CrossPolitic. He was arrested in September of 2020 for singing Psalms and hymns outside of city hall in Moscow, Idaho. He and other members of his church did this to protest the unconstitutional COVID mask mandates in their town. In this interview, we discuss what preceded his arrest, his subsequent legal battle against his city, how his situation can provide a blueprint for Christians to be able to fight back against their government, the state of manhood inside the Church, what churches should do to encourage masculinity, why Christians should not be too concerned about being nice, why he and his team are building their own business ecosystem, and much more. 0:26.7

All right, guys, we got a special guest on the podcast today. His name is Gabe wrench. He is the co founder of the fight laugh feast network.

0:32.8

And you may know him as one of the co hosts of the show, cross politic. But today on this show, we talk a lot about what happened to him in September of 2020,

0:39.9

because he was arrested for singing, Psalms and hymns outside of city hall and Moscow, Idaho, and he and other members of his church did this in protest.

0:48.2

So the unconstitutional COVID mask mandates that were happening at that time. So we go in the way back machine to when all that was going down,

0:54.4

because again, guys, we shouldn't just forget what happened in 2020. But we don't just talk about that. We talk about really how Christians can be pushing back against darkness that is happening in their governments.

1:03.7

We talk about masculinity inside the church. We talk about what churches should be doing to focus on masculinity. We talk about basically the ways that entrepreneurs and business people and educators, the way that they can almost build out their own ecosystems to have a place to fight from because a lot of conservatives are in the fight now.

1:22.1

But maybe they don't have a home base. And they certainly don't have a place where from where they can, you know, volley their own attack. So we weaved in and out of a lot of really great topics today. But I really, really enjoyed myself. So without further ado, let's get into it.

1:33.6

Gabe wrench. Welcome to Don to the life of man's podcast.

1:36.9

Hey, thank you for having me, Cole.

1:38.5

I'm so excited to have you here. It's cool because a lot of the stuff you do is a lot of stuff that we do here on Don to life.

1:44.1

So covering faith, culture and politics, but we'll get into all that. We need to kind of start basically. We need a soft place to land.

1:50.3

So you're a Christian and that's a big deal. I would assume for you and your background, but kind of take us through because that's, you know, off air.

1:57.0

I kind of gave you my, you know, 30,000 for you story of how I became a Christian. So for you, how did you become a follower of Christ?

2:02.8

And then we'll just kind of build from there. Yeah, that's great. You know, I grew up in a Texas and it sounds like talking to you offline before we came on the show that similar situation, you know, in Texas, everyone's a Christian.

2:13.3

It's that Southern Christian culture, that Southern Christianity. And which comes with the blessing there, but at the same time, there's this cultural Christianity that can really make you lukewarm.

2:24.4

And so that that's kind of where my Christianity was kind of baking in that in lukewarm cake. And God was kind. I grew up in a Christian family.

2:34.0

I've always known Jesus. I never had a wild conversion story, but one of the things that was really helpful in my walk with the Lord is my dad got a job.

2:42.2

He worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas, and then got a job as Hyundai, CMK Connectors in Eugene, Oregon in 97. And so I moved with the family up to Oregon. And so I went from Texas where everyone's a Christian to Oregon where no one's a Christian, you know, Eugene, Oregon is known for its, you know, atheism, basically, or it's lack of Christianity, that whole high I five corridor, all the way up to Portland, Seattle and everything. And so that was kind of the God really used Oregon to kind of wake up my faith.

3:12.4

And I remember 97, that was the first time I really started reading the Bible and praying like I wanted a deeper relationship with God, and I wanted to know more about him because I was challenged in my faith. I was surrounded by more of a godless culture than a Christian culture. And God really used that in my life to kind of wake up my faith and everything. So God's been kind.

3:34.9

Not a, not a perfect child at all definitely have a lot of repentance in my life, but I never went through a big backsliding moment in my life. So

3:45.5

Okay, so denominationally, where would you say that you've you've landed now for for everybody? And then I have questions from there, but don't worry. It's not going to be a big theological debate today.
