I was not initially very open to her new book. Gabby sent me

judgment detox, and frankly, I couldn't stop judging it. I love the cover. It's gorgeous.

But I couldn't get myself to open it. For weeks, I would pick the book up and just stare at it.

shit show, thousand-year storms and floods, record-breaking fires, several of which are still raging

here in Southern California, all amidst the rollback of environmental safeguards. We've had so much to face with the Me Too movement,

of which I shared a very personal essay on my blog over at Book Mama. Add to that that two

very prominent scientist friends of mine have told me that they are being censored by our current

administration. And all of that has made this moment in no mood to stop judging.

But at the same time, lugging around PTSD and anger isn't good for body, mind, or soul. And I have

wanted some relief. So, like I did this time last year with Guru Singh, I decided to end the year with a spiritual

conversation and fly solo so I can go deeper and cover more ground.

I'm happy to say that I did finally pick up the book and start working it, and it does

bring immediate relief.

And there's a part of me that isn't totally ready to give up my judgment. And I'm hoping that after
