On Nurdat, we often like to talk about the origin stories of things, so when Tricia talked with G Willow, she figured a good first question was to hear about the origin story of the Ms. Marvel Comics.

Well, Ms. Marvel started out kind of out of the blue with a phone call I got from Stephen Wacker, who at that time was an X-Men editor at Marvel, and his then assistant editor, Sunna Ammonat, and they pitched me the following concept.

We want to create a new young American Muslim super heroine and give her her own ongoing series.

And nothing was known at that time about that character.
