Summary

With the preseason winding down, Jenny, Conor and Gary take a trip around the league to review major storylines and visit some big deals that went down—and didn’t go down—this summer.

First, the Saints quarterback situation has been settled. For now. Probably. Why Jameis Winston got the job, and whether or not he can avoid the kind of absurd interceptions that cost him QB1 in Tampa. Then, a discussion of the rocky few weeks for Urban Meyer is having in Jacksonville, and how it changes the outlook for the Jaguars in the short- and long-term.

Also, the curious case of Jamal Adams and his contract extension after some red flags popped up during his first season in Seattle, and a discussion of what’s next for Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield.

Finally, in the series premiere of Law & Order: 272 Games, Gary and Jenny tell Conor precisely where he went wrong in his prediction of every NFL regular-season game.

Hello and welcome to the MMQB Monday morning NFL podcast I'm Gary

0:08.8

Gramling. I'm Jenny Brentus I'm Connor O'Ror and guys I always send around the outline before the

0:16.7

show which tells us what we're going to be talking about and I was trying to give it a

0:19.5

clever little title like last week was the an evening of mystery which I thought was a very

0:25.3

intriguing way to start the show this one is news round up and I just can't think of anything more exciting than that.

0:35.0

Well I think the biggest news of the week is that we allowed Gary Gramling back on the show

0:40.0

after last week's debacle with him making Michael Badgley an X Factor, throwing the

0:46.7

guess who game into chaos, Connor and I have been gracious enough to allow Gary to

0:51.5

return and so I just wanted to start off by saying that you know hopefully we can all move forward

0:57.5

together but you know we feel as though we've extended in all of branch by welcoming you back Gary. This is how nice of a person

1:07.2

Jenny is afterwards. She said, do you think we were too mean to Gary? And I said, no, I mean, think about it. it Michael Badgley like that was just like that was just time in our lives

1:16.7

That's never gonna come back and I'm happy for Michael Badgley because everybody deserves in their life once to be considered an X factor but

1:24.3

this was not the forum to do it. You know what guys? We just look at this in different

1:31.0

ways. I see myself as more as someone who sort of, I came up with an innovative new way to play the

1:36.6

game, like I came up with the infield shift or something like that and perhaps like the infield

1:40.8

shift in baseball.

1:42.4

It's not fun fun but it's effective

1:46.6

so much so that many people are accusing you of ruining everything because of that so

1:52.4

pretty much pretty much that's a legacy that I will

1:56.2

proudly go down with. I guess the great innovators are not appreciated in their

2:00.8

own time Gary that applies to you apparently in your own mind at least

2:05.8

That's what I'm saying when the kids of the next generation are playing some NFL theme guess who and there are some kickers mixed in there.
