Hello, everyone. It's Andrea Chalupa from Gaslit Nation. And I am sharing a special invitation with you. I got together with some friends to start a giving circle. You may remember those from our spring. Let's All Get Together and defeat Fascism series that we ran over April, May, and June. We had the wonderful folks from the States Project on the show, Melissa and Aaron, to talk to us about how critically important it is to fight for power on the local state level.

Trump and his violent fascist attempt to overthrow our democracy, that has transformed into a authoritarian movement to elect trumpists at the state level, where they're going

to oversee our elections and ensure that the big lie is law in the land and that Trump can come

to power or someone like Trump can come to power and stay in power

and then it's game over. That's really how close we are. And if America falls, that is a disaster

for the world. So our focus needs to be on the all important state, local level. And for that,

inspired by the work of the state's project that is working really hard to help folks start giving circles among their communities.

I joined a Giving Circle that was already in progress.

And one of the many members of this Giving Circle happens to be the phenomenal actor, Jay Smith Cameron, who some of you may know as Jerry,

the cool, calm, ruthless CEO on Waystar.

I don't, Waystar, it's on the HBO show Succession.

I don't watch it because I have a baby and a toddler, but I know it's an extraordinary show from people talking about it on Twitter and everywhere in the media.

But Succession is inspired based on the Murdoch family and how corrupt and dysfunctional they are.

I have watched early seasons and it's captivating. It's brilliant and genius. And Jay Smith Cameron is a standout part of that show for her stunning, cutting performance. Jay is an activist, first and foremost, fighting in the trenches alongside all of us,

toiling away, doing everything she can, organizing among her friends and family to do all sorts

of things. I met her through activism. She was out there marching in the streets for the March for

Truth, which a group of us, complete strangers,

organized in three weeks, a national march in over 130 cities. Jay was there. We got to know

each other through efforts like that in fighting Trump's fascism. So she's one of us,

one of us. You know, she's, you know, if you're twirling away in the dark,

so is she. And so we're going to get together to raise some money for the state that our

giving circle adopted, which is Pennsylvania. As we all know, Pennsylvania is one of those
