Mark chapter 3, verse 1, and the scripture I want to read kind of sets up a theme that I

want to talk to you about for the next few weeks.

So the Bible says another time Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand

was there.

Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely

to see if he would heal on the Sabbath.

And Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, stand up in front of everyone, and

then Jesus asked them, which is lawful on the Sabbath, to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill.

But they remained silent.

So he looked around at them in anger and deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man,

stretch out your hand.

And he stretched it out and his hand was completely restored.

I want to speak to you today and possibly over the next few weeks on the subject of functional faith.

Functional faith.

And so, Lord, I pray that your word would do its work in our hearts and that we

would respond in order in Jesus name amen they may be seated on your way to your seat tell

somebody we got some work to do Mark's Gospel gives us five different accounts within two chapters of Jesus in confrontational situations.
