So, this email is from listener Brooke from Cleveland. They write high Dr. Kirk and Umberto. What might be the justification for tech scammers using tech scamming to take advantage of vulnerable people?

I have recently been watching Jim Browning's YouTube videos on tech scammers. Jim purposely allows scammers to gain access to his computer and then he reverses the connection so that he can gain access to the scammers computers.

Yes, yes. I've seen these and I've also seen videos where the call, they get the calls from the call centers and then the guy ends up stringing them along and they're quite hilarious.

So, if you don't know this out there in podcast land, there are people around the world, but particularly in India, where they will call people up in the United States and pray on people that don't know it's a scam.

So, they'll say hello, Mr. Johnson. Your computer has been hacked and I am from Microsoft and so I need you to go on your computer and I'm going to walk you through a step so that we can protect your computer from the hackers.

Yeah. And in the process they get access to your money or your credit cards or something.

By the way, my mom fell prey to one of these things.

So did mine.

Yeah. Like, how long ago was this three or four years ago?

Same. And now, I was really shocked because my mom, you know, she's actually quite technologically savvy.

Yeah, my mom too.

Right. And my mom knows to call me.

Before she does any of these things and she did it anyway.

Not only that, my mom and I'm surprised, same as yours.

My mom is super conservative when it comes to money and things and stuff like that.

So, I get a call from her after the fact she calls me.
