ADVERTS DISCLAIMER:

This podcast has ads at the start of every episode. However never in the middle of a story or at the end.

Please be assured all ad blocks have been applied to ensure no over 18 or inappropriate ads are played.

However, there may be the odd occasion where an advert slips through the net because the company submitting them submits them under a category that is not correct. This happens very rarely and I do my upmost to stop this happening.

If this happens, please email me at [email protected] and let me know the following information: What the ad was for? What state you live in? And what episode you heard it on and I will immediately contact Spreaker to block the ad.

I take this very seriously and I really appreciate your support and co-operation.

As creators, we want your child’s experience to be a pleasurable one. Running adverts is necessary to allow us to operate, but please do consider the premium subscription service as an alternative – it’s ad free.

Today's premium story request comes from Kai Smith, who lives in West Los Angeles.

He would love a story about a robot named Gax that battles his brother Wax.

0:27.8

There was once two brothers, and in many ways they were like brothers everywhere,

0:34.0

sometimes playing nicely and looking out for one another, and sometimes arguing and fighting.

0:39.0

But what was different about these two brothers was that they were robots.

0:47.7

Their names were Gax and Wax. They each had a domed head, a box-shaped body, two arms and two legs. But Gax was red and gold, while Wax was blue and silver. They lived in an enormous junkyard, where people came to

0:57.1

dump old refrigerators, cars, vacuum cleaners, computers, and all sorts of other junk. Although

1:04.3

people had decided they didn't want these things anymore, Gax and Wax were more than happy to see

1:10.4

them arrive each day. For two young

1:13.7

robots, these mysterious objects created hours of discussion as they tried to work out the

1:20.3

thing's purpose and why somebody would want to get rid of it. This was what they were doing

1:25.9

the day they found the toaster. Neither of them had ever seen a

1:30.3

toaster before. And so they prodded its twin slots, poked its cable, and investigated its buttons.

1:38.0

Hmm, I think it's a device for storing books, said Gax, the little red robot. Look, you can carry two at a time, one in each

1:47.8

slot. Bluh. Blurred it out, Wax, the blue robot, waving away the idea with a shake of his head.

1:55.6

That's not right. Look at all these breadcrumbs inside it. It's obvious to me that it's a bird feeder.

2:02.9

No, it's not, said Gax, raising his voice. It's a bookholder.

2:08.6

It's a bird feeder, shouted back, Wax. Bookholder, yelled Gax.

2:15.3

Birdfeeder! screamed Wax. Gax reached down and! Screamed Wax.

2:18.5

Gax reached down and snatched up a book-sized scrap of waste from the junkyard floor

2:23.2

and crammed it into one of the slots, forcing the toaster's lever down.

2:28.4

See? said Gax.
