Summary

Welcome to New England Legends From the Vault – FtV Episode 134 –  Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger head to Peck's Hollow in Franklin, Connecticut, in search of Micah Rood's former farm and a cursed apple tree that dates back to an alleged murder from the early 1700s. For many decades, folks in eastern Connecticut had to wonder when they bit into a Mike apple if those red specs were just pigmentation, or drops of blood from a murdered French peddler. This episode first aired January 14, 2021

Red specks in the apples that you're eating? Or what? No, and I'm going to keep looking until I find one because this story's about Franklin's cursed apple from Franklin, Connecticut. First air January 14th, 2021. Enjoy. Ooh, that looks good. Toss me one of those apples, Jeff. You got it? What is it about eating an apple outside of New England? Well, they grow so well in our region, and I love how there's so many incredible local variations of them. And they don't just differ from state to state, but even town to town. Hmm. This apple's a little different than any I've seen before. How's that? Well, there's a little red fleck of color in the flesh of the apple near the core.
