Hello and welcome to the Fancy Throwdown podcast coming to you on a Saturday

morning because of the start of the English Premier League.

So we're going to do a recap of the action yesterday with Liverpool getting their victory

over Norwich 4 to 1, but we're going to do a preview of the upcoming season and just kind of lay out in terms of where I think the standings are going to fall and things that kind of look out for throughout the course of the year.

Now for those of you unfamiliar with the Premier League, it is the top flight division in English soccer.

Basically, what you have are the 20 top teams in the English League.

Three of them will not be in the league next year because the

Premier League does involve relegation. So the three worst teams are dropped from

the league and playing a lower division where again they lose a significant

amount of money and would

willingly sign up for relegation in the U.S. marketplace.

England operates a bit differently because of locations and where some of these teams are located.

In a U.S. marketplace where it's so city-centric and there's only one sports team in a given city no US owner would actually

sign up for that.

The model works completely differently.
