I'm tasking you and I, Corey,

we're talking about the defensive backs. We spoke about receivers the other day, and I was talking about when you think about the talent, the depth, the receiver might be 1A, 1B up there with defensive back, but then it's defensive back to me is far in a way, I think the best position group on the field, at least in terms of it comes to the overall

depth. Like, love Deuce. I don't know if anybody, I don't know if Rawls is as alpha apex at his position as Deuce Robinson is. But man, when you look at this and you think about again, they run a three, three five. And, you know, they play, you know, about two cornerbacks, three safeties. there is the one deep center safety,

which is probably going to be C.J.

Richard from Illinois State, six starts, but he played in every single game for the

FCS runner up, graded out at 79.2 this past year, Corey, which I'm pretty sure was higher

than what Earl graded out at, but obviously a little bit of different competition.

I was going to say Earl might have done a little better in that league. But he'll be the guy probably playing deep middle, your strong safety rover. I imagine it's going to be Barker. And then Mackay Jones coming in from Duke is going to be your other starting safety. Like that's, that's strong. That's very strong. that's i should have looked at everybody else in the conference to

say i think that's the best trio of safeties in the conference but i didn't so i'm not saying that

and then obviously a cornerback you got ralls coming back uh and i would assume neomite channel

is going to be the opposite cornerback of him uh yours two starters and then that's the the one position, though, cornerback where it's, I think there's, there's more of a drop off. I think it's safety. But cornerback is a little bit concerning too because Quindarius Jones is coming back from injury. Charles Lester hasn't really been able to get on the field that much. I know it's only been two seasons, but he was one of the more heralded guys.

We'll see how Chuck Kennan factors into things at cornerback. But what are your thoughts when you think about this defensive backfield? Do you think it is one of, if not the strongest position for this team this coming year? No, because I'm not as high on the safeties as you are. I like Barker, and he showed a lot of flashes, but I'm not sold on the two transfers.

I know the kid showed a lot of flashes,

but I'm not sold on the two transfers. I know the kid played a lot at Duke, but I don't know that he played all that well, and I don't think that was a very good defense. So I don't know if he's just a guy or more than that. And the same with the kid from Illinois State. Like, it's nice that he had a deep run, but again, I'm not sold that he's,

I certainly not sold that either one of those guys are a step up for Merle Little.

And so that's, that's my concern.

The corners are, yeah, I think the corner, Rawls especially, I think as an NFL,

it's good to have NFL talent.

I think Rawls is an NFL corner.

So that's good.

But yeah, I think there's, luckily, I think they have enough bodies in the secondary.

And again, this guy is proven he will play the best player regardless of class.
