I want you to realize today that joy in scripture is never merely an emotion.

It is a spiritual condition of the heart that is rooted in God's presence and rooted in God's character.

When you really understand joy, the joy that comes from this word of God, it's not merely an emotion. It's a spiritual condition of the heart that is

rooted in God's presence that is with you, and it is rooted in the faithfulness of the character of the God that we serve.

And rejoicing is simply joy expressing itself.

So when the Bible says, and again I say rejoice, it says let joy express itself,

because joy is not real joy unless it is expressed. Joy must always have an expression. I mean, if somebody is joyful, they are what we might call

tickled pink. They're going to have a smile that comes on their face. There's a certain gleam

that will come in their eyes. There's a certain little giggle that happens. There's a shout. There is a song.

We leap for joy. We jump for joy. We sing for joy. Joy must always express itself. When joy is

down on the inside of a person, you can't really hide it. I mean, if, you know, when people are in love,

you can just tell them, it's just something about them. I mean, they start humming. I mean,

it's just a little childish kind of laughter. They're just, just smile, and they just, I mean,

whistling.

It's a manifestation.

If you've got joy, joy must be expressed.

Now, if you can go without expressing joy, it means because you don't have any.

Because when joy is in you, I'm just telling you it's going to come out some kind of way.

Even if you don't open your mouth, it'll be in your skip.

And just the way that you walk is saying, you know what, so and so happy today.

You'll be able to tell it, joy is always discernible when it is present.

And it is certainly discernible when it is missing.
