Summary

* When employers empower certain groups with special privileges they become clubs with which to beat the employer
* Employers are then reluctant to put themselves in a position to be bashed with that club
* Large companies must prove diversity and go out of their way to hire minorities
* That kind of discrimination is the right of the employer
* Whenever you hire anyone you make yourself vulnerable to frivolous suits
* The government has made American business less competitive by appealing to the job seekers not the the job creators
* This eventually backfires on the job seekers by minimizing the number of employers
* I established my offshore bank because government regulation made it so much harder for me to service my international clients
* This drove away jobs that would have been in America
* Now it is impossible for our company to accept foreign accounts, including Americans living overseas
* My offshore bank may not accept offshore accounts or non-American customers
* Government regulations are now making it difficult on Americans who live abroad
* Every business in the country is being undermined by growing government regulation

I also wanted to talk a little bit on this podcast just about some more business problems

0:15.7

of running a business because I did get some feedback when I spoke on the podcast about

0:23.6

the discrimination type lawsuits and the risks inherent in hiring members of minorities,

0:32.4

including women who are obviously not minorities, there are slight majority of the population.

0:36.8

Although I think when a lot of the civil rights legislation was being written or expanded

0:42.0

to include women, of course not as many women were in the workforce as there are today because

0:46.4

they didn't have to work because their husbands could afford to support them.

0:49.3

But now that we're so much of a poorer country with a lot higher taxes and lower living

0:54.2

standards, women are probably as likely to work nowadays as men. So they're not really minorities

1:00.8

in that sense, but they do have all this protection when it comes to the ability to sue.

1:06.6

Because when employers empower certain groups with the special privileges that they call rights,

1:14.2

they really give them a club with which they can beat up their employers.

1:18.9

And so some employers are reluctant to hire people who have that club because they don't want to

1:23.0

get bashed with it. And now there are people that were saying, oh Peter, you're racist,

1:28.0

just assuming that a minority is more likely to sue, that's a racist comment. It's not racist.

1:34.5

They're not suing because they're minorities. It's because they've been empowered with this club.

1:40.8

If you don't have the minority, if you're not a minority, you don't carry that club around.

1:44.4

So how are you going to swing it if you don't have it? If they didn't have all these laws and

1:49.3

special treatments, then no, blacks or Latinos or gays or people with handicaps or women would be

1:57.7

no more likely to sue than anybody else. But they are more likely to sue now because of what the

2:04.6

government has done. But yes, I mean, people will remind me that, well, you know, men can sue for
