How to Raise a Happy Backyard Flock. Today we're actually going to take it to the front

yard because we are talking probably one of my favorite subjects in the

gardening world and that would be front yard vegetable gardens which is

exactly what I'm looking at right now outside of my little podcast studio slash office.

So Anne, we've talked a lot about your backyard and your watering systems, your chickens in the

backyard.

Could you give us, just to start this off, a little bit of an overview of what you're actually doing in the front yard?

Oh yeah, we remodeled our entire front yard last year.

It was actually a many multiple year project because everything was DIY. We ripped out all the dead lawn

that I never wanted to water in the first place and we put in some birdies raised beds right and you're

selling those now. Yep yeah these are available for pre-order slash order depending on

Yeah so we put in some birdies beds and angled them according to how the sun would

hit and maximize you know the sun would hit and maximize the sun.

And we mulched it and I changed everything in the front.

We contoured the landscape in the last episode we talk about the swale that I put in in the front.

Or I should say my husband dug it. I didn't dig it. But I designed it and did some labor but he mostly did it and we basically are only growing or I'm only allowing the front to have edibles,

medicinals or California natives.

So there's no what I call useless plants in the front.

And you know, I hate the word useless plants but it's just but at the same
