Summary

What a week, everyone. Two full days of Y Combinator demo day activity kept us busy, but the latest accelerator cohort’s launch was far from the only big story in startup-land. Today on the Equity’s Friday news roundup, Mary Ann, Becca, and Alex gathered to dig into favorites from the hundreds of new YC companies that pitched, and a new venture capital fund that wants to become “the investment and innovation arm of the autism community.” Becca wanted to talk about Seso and its fascinating fintech play in the agricultural space, while Alex brought Home From College and its recent Seed round to the mix. Then to close out, we chatted through the impending Ibotta and Rubrik IPOs. The latter deal could provide a fascinating heat-check for unprofitable unicorns that need to find some sort of exit, and quickly.

Well I just sat through two days of YC demo day, which we'll get to in a minute, and so I feel like I've gone through some sort of warp function and my brain has been turned inside out. But I love demo days, so I kind of like it. Well, Becca is on the show with us and you sat in on demo days as well, right?
0:47.5	That is true and I have to say I never want to hear the term AI again in my life.
0:54.0	Bad news, Becca, because that's going to come up a lot on the podcast today. As a three, we're going to break through deals of the week, including the Autism Impact fund, Cesso, and then home from college.

1:08.2	It's YC demo day and we're going to not avoid the
1:13.7	phrase AI because if we did it would be very short and then we're gonna wrap up talking about
1:14.8	two IPOs that are coming your way both from Rubric and EBATA because oh my
1:19.3	gosh guys the IPO window may actually be inching open at last I can
1:24.0	dream anyways but first off Marianne we're talking about a new fund here but it's called the autism impact funds I presume we have to do a little bit of explaining well yes and I have to preface this by saying this is an
1:34.3	instance where I feel a little bit like an investor might because I first
1:38.2	wrote about this fund back in 2021 I think it was November, when they were really just getting off the ground,
1:45.1	they hadn't yet closed their fund, but I was so intrigued by the concept, it was not something
1:49.8	I'd ever really heard of before, and at the time their goal was to be the investment and
1:54.7	innovation arm of the autism community so here we are about two and a half years later
1:59.4	they announced a 60 million dollar fund that surpassed their goal of $50 million.

2:06.2	So yeah, I kind of selfishly felt that sort of validation
