So Joseph and I are going to do our best to talk about worry.

Let's begin by setting forth some of the essential differences between worry and anxiety,

which are often used somewhat interchangeably.

And basically, worry is kind of one of the unfortunate side effects, so to speak, of our ability to imagine.

Because we imagine and get worried about what might happen if this or that or the other thing.

Worry is really a thought process.

We can usually express it in words.

You know, I'm worried about my uncle George.

She's in the hospital.

And, you know, I hope his surgery goes okay and I'm worried about it.

I'm worried about all kinds of things that I can express,

whether my flight will be on time and I'll be able to make my connecting flight.
