And this is serious stuff. I mean, you could send the market into a tail spin.

A new strain of COVID reaches the US. How should

policy makers respond? It seems many of them forget that this is November of

2021 and not March of 2020. We're not helpless to deal with COVID anymore. This is the Fox News

rundown from Washington. There's an old joke here in Washington about jet fumes and the smell of nearby

Washington Reagan Airport wafting into the capital and enticing lawmakers to move a

little faster as a weekend approaches. I do not know if that played a role in keeping the government open,

but it was obvious all week there was not much of an appetite here for a government shutdown,

even if it was temporary.

We're not going to shut the government down.

That makes no sense for anyone.

Almost no one on either side thinks that's a good idea.
