The government shutdown drags on as Republicans and Democrats have dug their trenches and aren't budging.

Nothing has changed.

Nothing has changed since the government shut down.

In fact, nothing changed since several days before the shutdown.

And Republicans in Congress are looking to keep dangerous criminals off the streets.

This system of putting people back out in the street is a system that is being used by certain elected officials to save money

so they don't enforce the laws and they just put them back out in the street over and over again so they're not

incarcerated. That is not what we want. This is the Fox News rundown from Washington.

A Republican-backed stopgap measure to reopen the government until late November, failing

three times in one week, with only three senators who caucus with Democrats joining all but one

Republican to support breaking a Senate filibuster.

A frustrated Senate majority leader John Thune says Democrats are trying to appease their left flank.

They have taken hostage, the federal government, and by extension the American people,

who are the only losers in this.

House GOP leadership is keeping the House out next week, refusing Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's demand to negotiate.

Johnson and House Republicans care more about protecting

the Epstein files than protecting the American people. Democrats have drawn a line in the sand

on extending Affordable Care Act tax subsidies and restrictions on the president's ability to cut

spending approved by Congress. Is there a path forward to reopen the government?
