Sunday March 19th, 2023, I'm Chad Pergram. As the Fed continues its fight against inflation

little progress has been made between the President and Congress and their efforts to

avoid a debt crisis.

There is a debt problem that's sort of brewing in the Committee for Responsible Federal

Budget. You know, basically said, hey, we've got to deal with this because it will be

the number one issue in the future, and the future is now not that far away.

I'm Jessica Rosenfall, the President backtracks on a promise that there will be no new oil drilling

on public land with the approval of Alaska's Willow Project, sparking new lawsuits from

environmentalists but support from some Republicans.

It shows you just how important this project is, not just for Alaska, but for America,

2,500 direct jobs. The indirect jobs are probably much, much greater than that.

So Edward talked to us about the President's budget proposal. He put that out this past

week, and I always like to remind people that budgets are not binding. This is simply

an aspirational document, but people really get a sense of where the President and where

the administration's spending and policy goals are from a budget.

Exactly. And this was a wish list from the President, which we see from all presidents,

and it goes through a process now where they're going to have to try and whittle it down,

go back and forth. But I heard the House Finance, our Budget Committee, chairman, saying

that now they're behind, because the President's budget was four weeks late coming in, so

now they're behind trying to get their stuff done, and they're scrambling to go through
