Sunday, July 20th, 2025. I'm Ryan Schmels. Congress approves a package codifying cuts from the Department of Government Efficiency and what some believe was a test run for future spending cuts.

This was a win for the administration and a win for Republicans. You don't get style points, just the fact that they got it

done. And President Trump's frustration with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell boils over once again.

Could the president fire the chairman before his term ends? The average American has said,

cried uncle. They're crying uncle to the Fed. And if the Fed is looking at this at a lens of

aggregate data, it means that the richest people in America have to really stop spending money

before the Fed will say, okay, the economy is's request for spending cuts in the middle of the night.

On this vote, the yeas are 51, the nays are 48, and on this vote,

the bill is amended as passed. It's the first recisions package passed by Congress in more than

30 years, containing about $9 billion in cuts to foreign aid and public broadcasting. Some

congressional Republicans hope this is just the beginning of more
