King Solomon said that God ordains a time for everything, including heartache. In other words, trials don't just happen. God sends

them our way. But why would a loving God want you to go through trouble and how could it possibly help you?

John MacArthur answers those questions in the study he begins today.

Well, John, for obvious reasons, most of us like to avoid pain. I don't think it's an

exaggeration to say most people do whatever they can to steer clear of suffering and

discomfort.

Now, this extreme desire we have to avoid hardships assumes that pain is always bad,

but that isn't what the Bible teaches, is it?

Scripture actually says that pain can be a gift, something that believers should embrace.
