Hello, my friends. Welcome back. It is time for you and me to get our minds aligned with

the truth of God through the morning mindset. If you're new to the morning mindset, what

we do here is we go through the scriptures verse by verse looking for those gems, those

nuggets of wisdom that God has given us to equip us for living for his sake and for his

glory this day. Today we're looking at Proverbs chapter 29 verses 15 and 17 and we're going

to be talking about parenting. We're going to be talking about discipline of toddlers,

teens, everything in between. So stick around. I want to let you know we have a resource

out more about it at Godfearingkids.com. Okay, today Proverbs 29 verse 15 reads this

way. It says the rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to

his mother. It's giving down to verse 17. It says discipline your son and he will give

you rest. He will give delight to your heart. Now there's two different situations

related to parenting that we're looking at here. Verse 15 is talking about the benefits

of proper discipline for the child and then it leads into this idea of what's going to

happen if this discipline is not implemented. Okay, first off, the rod and reproof give wisdom.

Now that word rod is a word that represents physical punishment of some sort and in the

day in which this was written, they would use a small rod, a kind of a stick as an implement

of spanking. I'll just be up front with you here. I believe proper, non-abusive biblical

spanking is effective and even warranted the Bible instruction in verses like this, but
