Hey, welcome to Stuff to Blow Your Mind. My name is Robert Land.

And I am Joe McCormick. And today on Stuff to Blow Your Mind, we're going to begin a series on Jupiter's Moon I.O.

Now, years ago, we did a whole series of episodes on the moons of Jupiter as a whole, focusing mainly on the four Galilean moons.

We'll talk more about that in a bit.

But recently, I decided I wanted to come back and do a deeper revisit on I.O. in particular, Iyo being Jupiter's innermost moon.

And this was in part because I learned some new interesting things about it.

But what really triggered this new rabbit trail of research was that one night, I don't know, sometime in the past week, I got obsessed with new imagery generated by the NASA Juno mission in late 2023 and 2024.
