Summary

By all accounts, 41-year-old Dottie Caylor suffered from a near debilitating phobia of public places and spent most all of her time at home. So, when her soon-to-be ex-husband reported that she had asked him to drive her to a very public, crowded train station so she could travel to visit a friend, the story raised eyebrows. When Dottie failed to ever return, suspicions continued to grow. Please also consider supporting Coffee and Cases by joining us over on our Patreon page! In contrast, more than 19 million people in America alone suffer from a fear that cannot be packed away

about phobias, and for some that phobia can be debilitating. The good news is that for many,

they are seldom in a situation where they're forced to face their biggest fear. After all,

1:10.0

for those with hemophobia, it's not every day that

one sees blood. For those with acrophobia, it's not every day that one has to climb on a ladder

or peer over a cliff's edge. But for those with agoraphobia, every day is a battle.

1:31.4

Agoraphobia, the fear of busy places or places that don't feel safe, is one that develops slowly. It often begins as mild anxiety and can become all-encompassing

1:40.0

to the point where the person's only safe space is their home,

1:44.6

and they often refuse to leave it.

1:47.7

The woman at the center of our case this week suffered from agoraphobia,

refusing to leave her home most days.
