I want to begin today's episode by giving recognition to a woman you may have never heard of.

Her name is Jody Ewing.

She had been a reporter for many years for a Sioux City, Iowa newspaper

when her editor gave her an assignment

that would change the trajectory of her life. He asked her to begin writing about Iowa's cold

cases. To say that Jody Ewing took her assignment seriously would be an understatement. An article

about her in the Des Moines Register by Mike Killen tells us that Ms. Ewing eventually became so bent on helping achieve justice in each case that she sleeps little, began the Iowa Cold Case's website, keeps record of her growing case files, makes her search for answers

her full-time job, sometimes working up to 16 hours a day, and speaks almost exclusively of the

cases that she researches.

Reporter Killen interviewed Ewing's sister Kim Barron's in 2018, who had this to say about her

sister Jody's mission.
