From the Podium Edition, I'm Brandon Schultz.

Happy New Year, everybody, and happy game day as the Seahawks take on the New York Jets today.

0:19.5

They're going to face off against a talented secondary of the New York Jets.

0:24.5

And here was D.K. Metcalf and what he had to say about corner Soss Gardner and former Seahawks Corner, DJ Reed.

0:31.9

They play aggressive.

0:33.5

They definitely know who they are as cornerbacks in the league.

0:36.9

And, I mean, it's going to be a good matchup, you know, with DJ coming back and then going against Amma Gardner. So, I mean, it's going to be going to be a fun game. Gardner's college teammate Kobe Bryant also spoke about Sauce and whether his success in the NFL has been any kind of surprise. You know, I expected, you know, greatness from him. You know, obviously he's going to keep working, you know, all power to God as well, too. You know, that's the biggest thing that me and him had in common, you know, having that relationship with God and us being so close together that, you know, I expected this and I'm extremely happy for him. Bryant also talked about another Jets rookie in wide receiver Garrett Wilson.

1:12.2

Just, you know, you're always to catch. He's obviously a great receiver. You know, I played against him in college as well, too. You know, so I always respected his game. You know, I knew he was going to be a great, great receiver coming into the league. You know, but ultimately we should have to play our defense and, you know, play the game that we're capable of playing. Continuing with that Jets offense, here were defensive coordinator Clint Hertz thoughts.

1:30.5

When they have Mike White playing, they've seen more settled common. You can tell they have a lot of confidence in him when he's out there and running the offense. They are a physical team up front. You know, they do want to make it a point to go and run the ball. Breece Hall, obviously, that was a big loss for them. The kids are really talented player looking at the films from earlier in the season. But the other backs, they have, they all run hard. Their physical, two quality tight ends in the receiving core, quality guys on a lot of depth. And obviously, Garrett Wilson is a really talented kid with a bright future. So this is a talented group.

2:02.0

They obviously have a quarterback coming in that they feel good about and they are confident in.

2:05.8

So, you know, we've got to make sure we're ready and prepared.

2:09.2

Hurt was also asked if he's anticipating that New York uses quarterback Chris Treveller as a wildcat cubie.

2:15.3

He's a guy, obviously, I can do some of those only things, quarterback runs, things that nature. And obviously, anytime you have, you know, issues or whatnot during the course of the season, if it's wildcat stuff or whatever case may be, you always prepare yourself just as if it shows. If it doesn't, at least you were prepared for it. Mike White, meanwhile, will be returning from injury and starting as the main

2:34.8

quarterback for the Jets. Here were Coach Pete's thoughts on him. It seems to have really taken over well.

2:40.0

I mean, he must be a remarkable kid, you know, for this early in his career to just command the

2:44.5

respect and to demonstrate the leadership, obviously, and toughness, too. He's been hit pretty good a couple times,

2:52.2

and he keeps bouncing back. So he's got all the throws. The offense looked really,

2:58.1

really clean with him playing. So I can see, you know, just looking at the film, why they're

3:03.3

comfortable with him playing. I don't know what the decision is ultimately, but I'm sure if they

3:07.5

have them available, they're surely thinking about it. Carol is 3-0 against his former team since

3:12.7

joining the Seahawks. He reflected on his prior experience coaching for the Jets. It was a great experience.
