This season the Plot Dickens tells an in-depth story about movies and the people who make them.

The new season which just came out is about Pam Greer, the iconic star of Black exploitation

movies from the 1970s.

Black exploitation were low budget movies, targeted at a black audience.

These movies were raw and controversial, and at the center of that controversy was Pam

Greer.

But Pam's story didn't start in Hollywood.

In the episode I'm going to play for you, we hear about Pam's life growing up in Denver.

She was a country girl during the Civil Rights Era.

And on her first trip to LA, she finds herself trapped there during the historic Watts Rebellion.

Pam's story takes us to Wyoming, ancient Rome, the deep south, the Bronx, and the typhoon

soaked Philippines.

As you'll hear, real life is a lot messier than the movies.
