This week we are joined by Geo Sabah, the Chief of Staff for Congressman Roh Khanah, who

represents Silicon Valley and sits on the House Armed Services Committee.

Before becoming Chief of Staff, Geo was the Congressman's National Security Advisor and

Legislative Director.

Do you tell us a little bit about how you first became interested in national security

issues and how you came to work on those issues on the Hill?

Going back to my college days, my dream was to be a professional baseball player.

I was recruited to play baseball at Stanford.

That was my dream and my focus.

When I got to Stanford, I didn't know what I wanted to study, I didn't know what I

wanted to do, other than I wanted to make it to the big leagues, and so that was my focus.

However, my freshman year I took a class called the International Security in a Changing

World, and we learned about things like nuclear weapons and terrorism and all these sorts

of topics that I didn't learn in high school and was just totally captured by it, and I

started taking more and more classes and getting exposed to different professors at Stanford.

People like Condoleez Arise and Michael McFall, who really done this at the highest levels

and got me interested in it.

And that was sort of the initial pivot point, as my baseball career came to a close and

a decline.
