In today's episode, we'll meet the Senate candidate from Kentucky, Charles Booker, who, if elected, could change the course of U.S. history.

And folks, I am really pleased to have with me today, writer, director, and documentarian, Pat McGee to discuss his latest film from the hood to the holler.

Now, it's a very interesting documentary, and I love political documentaries, but this one's fascinating because, you know, I'm just going to tell you the spoiler alert.

It's impossible to avoid it.

This documentary chronicles Charles Booker's run for the Senate in Kentucky

in 2020 when he was running in the Democratic primary that summer, hoping to become the Democratic

challenger to Mitch McConnell. As it turned out, Amy McGrath became the Democratic candidate,

and Pat and his crew were on the ground to

chronicle what it was like for Charles to enter the race and then to encounter serious voter

suppression. As we know, unfortunately, Amy McGrath was not able to defeat Mitch McConnell

in the 2020 election, but what's so interesting here is that Charles Booker did not give up,

and he is now running again in 2022 in the midterm

elections against Rand Paul again for the Senate seat of Kentucky.

What's so fascinating about from the hood to the holler is you really get to meet the candidate

and the person, Charles Booker.

And it chronicles his rise to public notoriety.

And if it wasn't for voter suppression, it's unclear how

that might have turned out for Charles in 2020. But again, the fascinating thing here is for all the

people in Kentucky who are looking hopefully to vote for Charles in the 2022 midterms, this documentary

is a great way to meet him because it is a fixed point in time

about a man who really does not want to give up because he wants to serve his community.
