Summary

From the Archives: Dr. Owen Strachan is with his family taking a little time off, but he'll return soon! In the meantime, we at Grace and Truth wanted to re-share and episode that we hope will bless you. Here, Owen discusses the debate over sourdough and tradwife culture in evangelical circles. He explores the mirror phenomenon of red-pilled manhood and tradwife culture, which are reactions to beta manhood and feminism, respectively. Strachan emphasizes the need for a deep recovery of biblical womanhood and manhood, rooted in Scripture and not just reactionary trends.

Hey, happy summer. It's Owen Strand. I'm back. Except right now, grace and truth is on a short summer break. There's a lot going on in my life. My family is moving from one state to another, and we may even be enjoying just a few days of this summer. And so this episode is one we have run previously, but it's one that our audience, my audience has responded to very strongly, and so we're representing it to you in hopes that it will be a blessing in some small

way to you. We'll be back recording and releasing new episodes very soon. Until I return, enjoy

your summer, and God bless you. Do you need to make sourdough to be a godly woman?

Recently in evangelical circles, a debate erupted on social media over sourdough. It's true.

At the 2024 Founders Conference in Florida, Ali Beth Stucky made remarks about hashtag tradwife

culture that caused quite a conversation to sprout up on social media.

1:13.1

And I found Stucky's remarks helpful because basically what she called out was a kind of

performative traditional womanhood on social media.

She was making the point in her founder's panel remarks that there are a lot of folks online who present

themselves as living out manhood and womanhood in a meaningful way. But when you boil it down,

1:36.4

when you break it down, they're posting pictures, but that's not really the essence of biblical

1:40.5

manhood and the essence of biblical womanhood. I'm inclined to agree. In what follows,

1:45.4

I'm going to give you four thoughts by way of reflection about this general phenomenon. I'm not

1:50.9

going to try to exeat Stuckey's comments or the responses that followed. I want to give you my own take

1:55.7

on this trend in the area of womanhood. But I also want to talk a little bit as we go about

2:02.4

manhood. Here's the deal. I think there actually has been a kind of mirror phenomenon among both

2:08.9

men and women of the younger crowd today. This is called among men being red-pilled. If you're

2:15.2

red-pilled, you reject kind of what is called beta, passive manhood,

2:20.4

and you step up, you take ownership of your body, you try to be disciplined, you try to get ripped,

2:26.1

maybe, you want to be aggressive and assertive in life and not be apologizing all the time and

2:31.5

scared and on your hands. And so we've seen the manosphere, as it's
