Hi there, my name is Kiran Morris and I'm the author of The Peace that you're about to listen to.

Writing this piece was perhaps the single most important thing I've done in my career,

as well as one of the most emotionally involving stories that I've ever worked on.

It's the story of Hamaru Cantu, a chef, restaurant and inventor who lived and worked in Chicago

and ran a restaurant called Motto in Fulton Market.

Now, I've been obsessed with Cantu since I was a child, weirdly enough.

His restaurant was so whimsical and futuristic,

cooking with lasers, eating the menu, all of these things that's a child with just mind blowing.

I even wrote to him on Facebook when I was 10 years old, asking him for a job when I turned 18

and he replied and said yes, but I moved away from following chefs as I became a teenager,

got into other things and I'd always had an awareness of some of the stuff that Hamaru was talking about

when he would look at, you know, lab-grown meat or indoor farming or the miracle berry,

all of these things, these schemes he had for trying to correct and solve well-dunga.
