And of course, talking about Spain here in the air quotes, new world, can be complicated, as they say.

A question that I've asked myself several times in the last few years is whether Spanish music is Latin music,

and whether we should think about them in similar ways. And these are questions that Alt-Latino and the Latin music community have wrestled with in recent years.

Questions of identity, history, and musical traditions come to mind when discussing how Spain shapes the Latino music scene.

But for decades, music from Latin America and Spain have existed

in similar spaces. They have drawn from each other for influence and have been celebrated and
