Summary
In this episode, I sit down with Gerard Powell, a man who had it all from the outside—multimillions, fast cars, and luxury homes—but was utterly broken inside. After decades of self-destruction, and two suicide attempts, even intensive therapy couldn't reach the root of his pain. In a final, desperate act, he turned to plant medicine. What happened there didn't just save his life; it revealed a childhood trauma he had completely buried and gave him a new heart—literally. Jerry now runs Rythmia, a licensed plant medicine center, and shares the data-backed transformations he's witnessed in nearly 20k people. This conversation is a raw look at how we can become disconnected from our soul and the powerful paths that can lead us back home.

| 0:00.0 | Hi, I'm Dr. Amy Robbins and welcome to life, death, and the space between. |
| 0:05.6 | First, a few housekeeping issues. I wanted to thank each and every one of you. |
| 0:11.5 | I recently made my way into the top 10 of spirituality podcast. And while I'm not someone who |
| 0:18.8 | generally looks at the charts, I happened to that day pull up the charts for something else I was looking at and checked on mine and saw that I was in the top 10. And what that means to me is that you have helped get me here. You've listened. You've shared the word, you've sent it to a friend who you think |
| 0:38.9 | it might be helpful for, maybe you're a therapist and you've sent it to a client that you think |
| 0:43.3 | would benefit from it. And so I just wanted to take a personal moment and thank you for doing that |
| 0:48.7 | and ask you to please keep doing that if you can. It really means so much to me. |
| 0:56.9 | My, why I started this podcast initially was to give people an expansive space to think about things maybe in a way that they had never |
| 1:02.7 | thought about them before and to expand their view of what happens to us when we die, |
| 1:09.0 | what our soul is here to do when we're living, and how we can |
| 1:12.3 | live a more meaningful and fulfilled life. So with each time you spread this word, you are spreading |
| 1:18.2 | that message. I also ask that if you have not yet rated or reviewed the podcast, if you could |
| 1:25.1 | do that and make sure you're subscribed to it, |
| 1:32.1 | I do think it makes a difference. I'm not sure what difference it makes, but people say it helps. So if you could do that, thank you so, so much. And with that, I'm so excited to bring you |
| 1:38.6 | this podcast today. It's a longer one for sure, but I encourage you to listen until the end |
| 1:43.1 | because the story is so powerful |
| 1:45.8 | and the message is so powerful. And the message that came through, I'm interviewing Jerry Powell |
| 1:53.5 | today, who literally, when I was reading and listening to his life before, the only word that |
| 2:00.0 | came to my mind was what a disaster. |
| 2:03.2 | And his life really was, despite the fact that he was a multi-millionaire. |
| 2:08.8 | And he had from the outside everything that I think people ultimately think that they want. |
| 2:14.7 | And he was miserable on the inside. And what I think his story shows |
